Altitude, Temp, Air Density & Humidity

How do weather factors like altitude, temperature and humidity effect the jetting of a carburetor? Here are some basic rules that may help you tune the carb jetting to get better performance from your motorcycle.

ALTITUDE
As you increase your altitude the octane requirement decreases 1-2 octane per 3000 feet elevation. This is because the density of the air is reduced or there is less air available for your motor to burn. The higher the altitude, the richer your motor will run, making it necessary to re-jet the motor in order to lean it out. The fuel volume remains the same and the air volume goes down. If you have a vacuum advance, as the altitude increases, the motor makes less vacuum and the air fuel ratio becomes richer due to the decreasing air to fuel volume.

TEMPERATURE
When the temperature goes up, the air density decreases, thus you have less air available for combustion and your air fuel ratio becomes richer. The same works in reverse. As the temperature goes down, you end up with more air per cubic foot, and without re-jetting your carburetor, the engine will run leaner.

AIR DENSITY
As the air density increases, your engine will lean out. As the air density goes down, the engine runs richer. Like driving up a mountain, at the top, the motor has less power because you have less air to burn.

THE Engine Warm Up Mistake

tach
There is basically only one warm up mistake: too much RPM, too soon. You've seen these guys in the pits, as soon as the engine starts they're all over the throttle. What are they trying to accomplish? To dislodge a rats nest from the exhaust? What is more likely to be dislodged is a Connecting Rod from the Crank.

There is absolutely NO reason to rev the engine like this, except during the race.

Excuse & Cure:
  • If you're trying to "clear it out" – Tune the carb so the engine is clean at idle.
  • If you're trying to "put some heat in the engine" – Don't waste your time, heat comes from load and there is no load in neutral or park.
  • If you just enjoy revving the engine – Fine, I respect that, it's the only reason you should be doing it because there are no benefits.

Piston Ring Welding

piston ringThe ring above is out of the engine that inspired the 740hp Engine Book. This was before we learned how to fix the problem.

What is it:
  • It's more commonly know as micro-welding.
  • It's where aluminum from the piston is "transferred" to the bottom of the compression ring. Check out the full size photo above.
  • The welding will most likely take place near the ends. The above ring shows no problems on the bottom or opposite side of the gap on the bottom.
  • It happens during break-in. If you can make it off the dyno you're probably home free.
If you haven't experienced this problem yet, you either haven't built enough engines or horsepower. It may have already happened to you and you don't even know it - start checking the bottom of the compression rings during teardown.
How to know if it's happened:
  • Low crankcase vacuum - If you run a vacuum in the crankcase you can easily spot a problem with micro-welding. When the compression ring sticks from welding, blowby will increase and thus offset some of the vacuum and lower the gauge reading. I've seen engines lose 50% of their normal vacuum.
  • Power off 2% plus - This is the first clue that something is wrong. When I built engines in Nascar it was easy to spot an engine that was off a fuzz. You build dozens of the same engine and you'll have a really good idea of how much each should make.

Modern car roof racks

Modern car roof racks are a long way removed from their clunky old relations. In the old days, having a roof rack fitted to one’s car involved a garage, mechanics – the full works, just to get the thing to stay on. And that was without worrying about the fact that the old style roof racks tended to compromise the integrity of a vehicle’s outer shell, leaving the fixing points prone to rust and corrosion.
These days, roof racks for cars are lightweight, easily fixed and completely rust (and hassle) free. Major brand names cover all the common manufacturers and models of car – and the manufacturer’s warranty on both sides, the car and the car roof racks side, takes these rack brands into account. Modern car racks made by the recognised brands can be fitted to any make or model of vehicle without altering the warranty that vehicle is supplied with – provided the roof racks have been fitted by an approved fitter, like a high street auto accessories warehouse or a garage.

Evaluating a bad Lexus Oxygen Sensor and its replacement

An oxygen sensor is an electronic mechanism that calculates the quantity of oxygen in the gas or liquid being examined. It is a tool that detects the quantity of oxygen in the exhaust stream and transfers that information the ECM for appropriate fuel control. Used with a response system to sense the existence of oxygen in the exhaust gas and indicates the computer which could use the voltage signal to verify engine operating competence and regulate the air or fuel ratio.

The Lexus oxygen sensor is usually located in the exhaust manifold. The one end of oxygen sensor distinguishes the levels of not burned combustibles in the exhaust stream, and the other end attaches to wiring that transmits the information to the computer. The computer then utilizes the sensor analysis to guarantee that the engine is being given the accurate quantity of fuel. The readings from the oxygen sensor will change if extra or insufficient fuel is used, which will prompt the computer to re change the quantities of fuel being transported to the engine. An oxygen sensor will be unsuccessful periodically. Significant response about engine performance will be gone when the sensor go wrongs. Therefore, the computer that runs the electronic fuel injection scheme will have no thought how much fuel to transport to the engine.

Evaluation of Oxygen Sensor

An oxygen sensor will occasionally have a mileage evaluation, which specifies the period that the oxygen sensor is likely to last. There are several ways to find this information. A car's owner's handbook or supermarket handbook should affirm the estimated duration of its oxygen sensor. The dealership could search for the estimated duration of an oxygen sensor for a particular car if these books are unavailable. Various aftermarket auto parts supplies have alike information. It’s not required to wait until the sensor fails to change it to sustain peak engine performance. Several experts now advise replacing O2 sensors at exact mileage times for defensive maintenance. The suggested gap for unheated one or two wire O2 sensors on 1976 through early 1990s applications is every 30,000 to 50,000 miles. Warmed three- and four-wire O2 sensors on mid-1980s through mid-1990s functions could be modified every 60,000 miles. The suggested replacement gap is 100,000 miles on 1996 and newer OBD2 automobiles.

DUI Insurance Rates

What is a DUI Auto Insurance?

DUI auto insurance in some cases is also known as the DUI insurance. The working of such an insurance policy is quite simple and goes as follows…

A DUI insurance is a policy that is purchased by individuals. During the purchase procedure of the policy, the insurance company takes into consideration many different aspects of the person who is purchasing the policy. Some of the important factors that are considered by the auto insurance company can be listed down as follows:

* Driving License: The first factor that is considered by the insurance company is the person's driving permit. Full Coverage Auto Insurance Quotes

Before you start off hunting the cheap full coverage auto insurance quotes, have a look at the contents of a full coverage auto insurance policy and what kind of coverage should such a policy provide for. These are the must haves of full coverage auto insurance quotes:

* Every full coverage auto or car insurance policy must cover the collision insurance. A collusion insurance is basically an insurance coverage where physical damage to the car and its cost of repair are included. There are however some components such as the non-metallic components that are not covered by the policy.
* Medical insurance coverage for first aid is also an important necessity for many full coverage auto insurance policies. A car accident can result into a situation where instant first aid is required. A full coverage policy always covers up this expenditure.

* During a car accident, there is a possibility of other, non-auto property getting damaged. In such a case, the car insurance quotes often provide for a coverage against the damage to this property.
* Often there is a possibility that the other parties involved in the accident would sue the insured person. In such cases, lawyer fees and cost of compensation if any would be reimbursed by the insurance company.

For more information about the full coverage auto insurance quotes, you can refer to the article, what is full coverage auto insurance, which will give you an over view of the policy.

How does a Full Coverage Auto Insurance Policy Work?
The working of a full coverage auto insurance policy is no different than the ordinary insurance policies for automobiles and cars. The only difference is that the coverage of an auto insurance policy that has a full coverage has a wider coverage.

'How to buy auto insurance' is a commonly appearing query. There are some important aspects that the insurance brokers and agents take into consideration while providing the policy and quoting the premium. These aspects include:

* Age of the driver and the car. The rule of thumb is, older the driver the lesser the premium and older the car, more is the premium.
* The speed and CC of the car do matter, as faster cars get into more number of accidents, which are damaging. Apart from that, safety features are also thoroughly considered. Thus faster and ill equipped cars have higher premium policies.
* Driving lessons, charitable work and good grades, often get lesser premiums.

In the United States, all states individually have passed some laws to make a certain level of insurance policy coverages compulsory. In such a scenario, 50/100/25 rule is generally accepted. 50/100/25 signify, a minimum of $50,000 for personal injury, $100,000 for injured parties and $25,000 for property damage as the basic of any auto insurance policy. I hope that the elaboration on full coverage auto insurance quotes is resourceful. Good luck.

Why Should You Get Multiple Auto Insurance Quotes

One may think that all companies are the same, so why should you get multiple auto insurance quotes? Simply because not all companies are the same. While most offer nearly identical coverage, each may have special clauses that could prevent you from getting the kind of coverage you thought you were paying for.

Some policies have some pretty tricky fine print that may turn out being more of a hassle than a savings when it comes to obtaining the right policy for you and your family. This is one of the reasons why it is an excellent idea to shop around.

Be aware of how brokers work, if deciding to use one in finding a policy for you. They typically receive commissions for getting you signed up with a specific set of companies. While the company you may end up using may be perfectly fine, you may have been able to save additional monies and obtain a wider spread of coverage.

Due Diligence before Choosing a Car Insurance Company Will Pay Off Later

Choosing a car insurance company may seem like an overwhelming task. But that doesn't have to be the case. You can easily determine if the companies you're considering are reliable and affordable by using these five tips:

1. Ask for referrals from friends and family - There's no better recommendation than a referral from someone you know. Ask friends and family members about their level of satisfaction in their provider.

2. Use the Internet - See what current customers are saying about the car insurance companies you're considering by visiting their websites and looking for reviews. An overwhelming number of complaints should send up a red flag.

3. Seek expert opinions - While customer reviews and referrals are important, you should also seek information from industry experts, such as the following resources, as suggested by Edmunds.com:

- Your state's department of insurance website may give you a consumer complaint ratio that shows the number of complaints car insurance companies received per 1,000 claims filed.

- J.D. Power and Associates car insurance company ratings are based on factors such as coverage options, price, claims handling, satisfaction with company representatives and overall experience.

- A.M. Best and Standard & Poor's websites can provide an insurer's financial-strength ratings.

- Your local body shop can also be a place to determine if a car insurance company is reliable.

Why You Should Never Allow An Auto Insurance Policy Lapse

Paying your auto insurance bill on time can be easy to forget, but the consequences of letting your auto insurance policy lapse are not worth the oversight. Learn the three most important reasons to avoid a car insurance policy lapse and how to prevent this potentially expensive mistake.

#1: No coverage if you're in an accident.

If you are involved in an accident and have let your car insurance policy lapse, you will not be able to file a claim. Regardless of who is at fault for causing the accident, you may be responsible for repairing or replacing your vehicle. If you cause the accident, you may be held liable for paying the other driver's vehicle repair bills and medical bills if the other driver and/or passengers are injured.

#2: Harder to get approved for insurance in the future.

Regardless of the reason for allowing your auto insurance policy to lapse, getting approved for another policy at the same or another insurance company will be very difficult. When you allow your car insurance policy to lapse you are flagged as "high-risk" by auto insurance companies. If you are approved by an insurance company, your premium may be very high, as you've demonstrated high-risk behavior by allowing your policy to lapse or choosing not to renew.

A used car. Three words that scare anyone who needs to buy one. Am I paying too much? Am I buying a problem? Am I being charged more than it's worth? Can I trust in the documents they are giving me?

The list of questions with doubts about the car can be many, but not everything has to be so negative and to solve the problem Consumer Reports understand about it, so here are the 10 safest tactics to protect yourself from used car dealers.

1. Find out the car's value.

Knowing the real value of the used car you have in mind, regardless of the amount the seller is asking, is the first tool to pay a fair price. The car condition, mileage, age, equipment levels and the region of the country, are all factors that affect the value of the car. Different price guides can list printed values, which may differ widely. Avoids the cheating game by asking the seller to use a single guide to determine the car's value for sale and the value of any vehicle you are offering in return.

2. Write your questions.

Be prepared with a list of questions about the car and check them off as answered to your satisfaction. Make sure they answer all your doubts.

Find out all you can about the different make and model vehicles and what they offer you before you start looking. Research car financing options to get the best deals!

(ARA) - "If my van doesn't start, I'm in trouble," says Leanne Kocsis, a working mom whose family of six relies on having a vehicle. It must run reliably, accommodate her family, keep them safe and be fuel efficient. And, the loan payments can't rob their savings.

Whether you're a soccer mom or a jet-setter, choosing the right vehicle isn't something to take lightly.

"Do your research before you buy," advises Kocsis. As a member of financial services provider USAA, she used car-buying tools on USAA.com to find her match, a Toyota Sienna.

"The car-buying experience is unique to each person," says Steve Thompson, assistant vice president in charge of USAA's Car Buying Service. "We try to help people understand the cost and value of a vehicle - beyond the sticker price - so they can get the right car for their needs."

Savvy shoppers get the most for their money by weighing all options in advance. Start your search with these factors in mind.

1. Fuel Economy

Soaring gas prices increase demand for fuel-efficient vehicles. But, carefully consider whether you drive enough to make fuel economy important. Double-check your math for hybrid vehicles. Unless you're a road warrior, a hybrid's fuel savings may not offset the higher purchase price.

What about electric cars? The technology and infrastructure is still in its infancy, and Thompson and Jesse Toprak, vice president of industry trends for TrueCar.com, agree that buying now is risky for cost-conscious consumers.

2. Safety

Safety should play a role in every car-buying decision. You can find most crash test ratings at the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety website at www.iihs.org.

Most new cars come with extensive safety features such as air bags, anti-lock brakes and crumple zones. You can decide whether additional precautions are worth the extra cost.

How to File an Auto Glass Insurance Claim

Regardless of how careful a driver you are, windshield chips are often unavoidable. Use the following guide to help you determine whether the damage requires repair or full replacement, then file an auto glass insurance claim with your provider.

Determine whether to repair or replace your windshield

The first step is to establish whether your windshield needs repairing or replacement. While a specialist should make the final call, a good rule of thumb is to replace a windshield if the chip or crack measures six inches or more. If the crack is less than six inches, a professional repair should take care of the damage. However, exposure to different elements such as cold and warm weather or hitting a pothole can cause an unrepaired crack to spread quickly. Filing an auto insurance glass claim with your insurance company and immediately scheduling a repair or replacement can greatly reduce the risk of a small blemish becoming a big problem.

Car Theft Prevention

Five Easy Steps to Prevent Car Theft and Vandalism

A vehicle is stolen every 28.8 seconds in the U.S., according to tracking and recovery system provider LoJack Corporation. This statistic can be unsettling - especially given the amount of money you've invested in your car and how much you rely on it. To help keep your car from getting stolen or vandalized, follow these 5 easy guidelines.

1. Choose the right location

Location can be everything when it comes to preventing car theft and vandalism. If you have a garage, always park your car in it when you're at home. And always keep your car locked, even when it's inside the garage.

If you park in the street, choose a well-lighted area. When parking in public lots, try to find one that is well-lighted and has nearby security cameras and parking attendants; thieves and vandals don't want an audience.

Should You Buy Full Coverage or Liability Auto Insurance

By: Nicole Tomassetti

If you are shopping for new auto insurance coverage, how do you decide if you need full coverage versus liability auto insurance? Though liability insurance may seem more affordable, carrying full coverage auto insurance can help protect you financially if you're involved in an accident.

Liability Auto Insurance

Required by law in most states, liability insurance often is the minimum amount of auto insurance coverage you can carry. Check with your state's department of motor vehicles to determine the minimum amount of liability coverage you're legally required to carry.

Liability insurance covers bodily injury and property damage expenses sustained by others during an accident. Bodily injury helps pay the medical expenses of the other party. Property damage helps pay for damage to the other party's property, such as a vehicle. However, liability insurance doesn't pay for your own medical or property expenses.

How Much Car Insurance Do I Need?

By: Aaron Baer Harsha

"How much car insurance do i need?" is an exceedingly difficult question to answer, as there are so many factors that need to be taken into consideration. These factors include your driving history, how much coverage you can afford, what type of coverage best suits you, your maximum premium (the amount you pay during each pay period) and your maximum deductible (the amount you pay out of pocket in the event of an accident), just to name a few.

How much can you afford?
When figuring out how much car insurance you need, first you need to determine how much you are capable of paying. Liability insurance is the most basic kind and is mandatory in almost all states. It covers only damage that you cause to others, including their damage to their car, damage to their property and medical expenses, and sometimes it also covers your legal team in the event that a suit is filed against you. These plans are the least expensive, but they don't cover everything. A higher degree of coverage that at least covers some of the damage to your own car is essential, especially if you can't afford to fix it up yourself.

How Does Car Insurance Work?

By: Aaron Baer Harsha

How does car insurance work? Truth is, it's pretty simple. Car insurance is no different from any other type of insurance. You pay a fixed amount, depending on your coverage and plan, and in exchange the insurance company covers a certain amount of the cost of any accidents you may be in, or damage that your car may incur.

Types Of Car Insurance
What makes car insurance different from some other types of insurance, however, is that it is mandatory in some areas. Liability insurance is the most basic kind, and you are required to have it to get behind the wheel in almost all states. This type of insurance covers only harm to others that you have caused, and it often also pays for your legal team if a suit is filed against you. Therefore, most drivers with the means opt for more comprehensive plans that also cover damage to their own automobiles and their own medical bills.

What Does Gap Insurance Cover?

By: Jennifer Maughan

What does gap insurance cover? It's a policy feature that protects a car owner from having to pay the difference between what a car is worth and the loan amount for that vehicle. All car owners hope that they'll be able to avoid ever using gap insurance, but when it's needed, it can really help a car owner out in paying off a car loan.

How Does It Work?
When a car owner takes out a loan on a car, the car will inevitably depreciate faster than the loan can be paid down. It also means that the value of the car is quickly less than the loan amount on the car. For example, a car owner takes out a $15,000 loan. However, the car is involved in an accident and gets completely totaled. The car owner has $12,000 left on the loan, but the insurance company has determined that the cash value of that car is just $9,500. The insurance company is going to pay out only the value of the car, not the amount left on the loan. That's where gap insurance comes in.

What Does Auto Liability Insurance Cover?

By: Jennifer Maughan

What does auto liability insurance cover? When it comes to insuring cars and drivers, state regulations are quite strict. All 50 states require a certain level of liability coverage, so when shopping for an auto insurance policy, it's a good idea to gain an in-depth understanding of what auto liability insurance covers.

Understanding Auto Liability Insurance
There are three parts to a liability insurance policy-bodily injury coverage per person, bodily injury coverage per accident and property damage. The amounts covered for each category will vary, depending on the policy. Cheap auto liability insurance generally covers a minimal amount, while more expensive policies have higher premiums each month. When shopping for auto liability insurance, you will usually see the numbers written this way: 30/60/20. This means bodily injury coverage per person is $30,000; the amount of total coverage per person per accident is $60,000; and the property damage coverage is $20,000. Many states have a minimum requirement for these amounts, and there are many options for increased coverage.

What Is a Car Insurance Deductible?

By: Gabriel Miller

What is a car insurance deductible? If you want to know the answer to this question, you're not alone, as car insurance can get confusing in a hurry. So many insurance providers are out there offering different plans, and you might choose the wrong policy for you if you don't understand how a deductible works. A deductible comes into play after you get in an accident, and the amount of the deductible can vary.

What You Pay After An Accident
A car insurance deductible is the amount that you must pay in the case of an accident or personal injury. The size and nature of a deductible must be arranged with an insurance policy provider before a deal can be made, but it will always need to be paid before the insurance company provides funds for your claim. As an example of how a deductible works, assume you are in a $2,000 accident. You arranged before that your deductible will be $100, so you must pay that $100 before your insurance company will pay the other $1,900. Deductibles range widely in size and percentage, and they are related to the size of a car insurance premium, which is the amount you pay per month.

Tips for Choosing Car Insurance for Teenagers

By: Jaceson Maughan

Car insurance for teenagers is expensive as a result of some frightening statistics. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, auto fatalities are the leading cause of death for those aged 16 to 20 years old. A teen is simply more likely to get into a serious accident, and insurance rates for them will be higher. However, you can get less expensive car insurance for your teen if you know how to get discounts.

Consider the Car: Look at the type of car the teen will drive. Cars that are less expensive mean lower insurance rates. If you have two cars that the teen could drive, choose to add the teen to the car that is the least expensive, and restrict his driving to just that car.

Why Is Car Insurance So High for Teenagers?

By: Gabriel Miller

Why is car insurance so high for teenagers? The question has been asked by many parents of young drivers who are seeking to protect themselves financially from any rookie errors their child might make behind the wheel. While many teenagers may exercise great caution and common sense when they drive, insurance companies remain wary of drivers under the age of 20. But why?

Stats Don't Lie
Statistically, teenagers are much worse drivers than their adult counterparts. Every year, teenagers are responsible for a sizeable percentage of annual crashes, even though the number of teens who drive in America are fewer in number than drivers over the age of 20. Insurance companies consider the statistics on teen drivers carefully. It has been estimated that teenagers are nearly 10 times as likely as adults to crash their cars, leaving massive bills and injured bodies in their wake. Whether because of a lack of experience or adolescent carelessness, the fact remains that teens can be quite poor drivers.

What is collision insurance? While car crashes themselves are potentially traumatic and deadly, paying for collision damages to a car can cause additional stress and trouble, which is why collision insurance is a must for any driver. Understanding the vital importance of collision coverage is the first step toward protecting your car and your hard-earned cash.

Damaging Collisions
While damage to a car may result from falling rocks or intrusive rodents, collisions with other vehicles cause the bulk of cosmetic and structural damages a car sustains in its lifetime. Collision insurance not only covers damages your car may suffer as a result of being hit, but also damages resulting from your own errors. That is, whether you smash into a Jeep or a Jeep smashes into you, collision coverage will foot the bill after you pay a negotiable deductible.

Car Insurance Guide

1. What is Car Insurance?
Let's start by addressing one big, fundamental thing: There's no one thing called "car insurance." Car insurance is a collection of different policies that cover you in different ways. Here's how they break down:

Liability coverage - These policies help cover your rear-end when you've hit another car and it's your fault. The money will go to the people you hit, it won't cover the people in your car.

Bodily Injury Liability (BIL) - This policy pays for other people's medical expenses. You'll often see BIL policies described as a "20/50" policy or a "100/300" policy. These numbers describe the maximum dollar amount the policy will pay for a single person's injuries and the maximum for all the injuries sustained by all the occupants of the other car. So, for example, a 20/50 policy will pay out as much as $20,000 for a single person's injuries, and up to $50,000 for injuries to everyone who was in the car you hit.

Auto Insurance Basics

There are six types of coverage -- which do you need?

Depending on the type of coverage you buy, auto insurance pays to fix your car if you're in an accident, pays the medical costs of anyone you injure in an accident, and pays to repair other vehicles or property. The liability portion of your auto insurance policy covers you if you are found liable for causing injury or damage with your vehicle.

The six basic types of auto insurance coverage, according to the Insurance Information Institute (www.iii.org), are:

* Bodily injury liability -- covers injuries to other people.
* Medical payments, or personal injury protection (PIP) coverage -- covers injuries to yourself and your passengers. Sometimes lost wages and funeral costs also are paid by this type of auto insurance coverage.
* Property damage liability -- covers damage to other people's property.
* Collision -- covers damage to your car from hitting another car or an inanimate object, or as a result rolling over. It even covers damage to your car from potholes.
* Comprehensive -- the catch-all auto insurance coverage for damage from hailstones, earthquakes, vandalism, theft or anything other than what's covered under collision coverage.
* Uninsured and underinsured motorist coverage -- reimburses you if the other driver doesn't have auto insurance, or doesn't have enough to cover your expenses.

Why does a car engine overheat?

There are many different reasons that can cause an engine overheat, but they all have in common three aspects. The three aspects which all engine overheat factors have in common are that they cause that the heating system can not get rid of heat, they cause a loss of coolant or they directly cause too much heat in the engine.

One first problem which might be the cause of an engine overheat is a problem with the radiator cap and the pressure it holds. If the radiator cap does not hold pressure correctly then coolant could boil and therefore the engine would overheat. Another reason might be caused by thermostat failures; it is recommendable that you check it.

The car engine might also overheat due to coolant leaks such as those from the radiator, the hoses, the water pump, the freeze plugs or any others. Also, problems in the water pump could be the cause and therefore you should check it and replace it in case it is needed.

Some other reasons by which the car engine could overheat are problems in the exhaust system which you can discover by checking vacuum readings, pipes and converter. Besides, you should also make sure that the radiator hose has not collapsed and the ignition timing is working properly.

You should also check the electric cooling fan by making sure that the fan motor, the relay and temperature are correct or otherwise it could cause the engine to overheat. Besides this, you should also check the radiator in case there are any debris in it as well as you should check its hose in case it has collapsed.

Your Engine, Your Baby: Synthetic or Conventional Oil

One central argument between car enthusiasts and on Internet car forums alike is what oil is better for your car, synthetic or conventional. Before synthetic oils became available for regular automobiles, the argument centered solely on brand types and weight. But now, with the advent of these synthetics all over the market, what is truly the best choice for your engine? Let’s explore both of these worlds to find out.

Conventional oil is rated according to a SAE system. This scale is used so that you know what type of oil is best for your car given the environmental conditions (temperature, city driving, etc.) of where you live. The first number, for example on 10W30 motor oil, is 10 followed by a “W”. This “W” indicates that the number before it is the viscosity rating of the oil. The lower this number, the better the oil is for colder climates. The higher the number, the better it is for hotter driving conditions.

Get an Auto Loan the Smart Way

Did you know that most people pay hundreds or thousands of dollars more on auto loans than they have to? Get an auto loan the smart way. Read on.

Most people really get taken for a ride on their auto loan. Did you know that differences in the total cost of different auto loans can run into a thousand dollars or more? Here’s how you can get the lowest rate:

*

Make a list of different auto loan lenders and their interest rates and terms, before you go to the dealer (the web is usually the easiest way to do that). Did you know dealers get a commission on the loans they refer? The amount of cooling will not be reduced even when the mean temperature of the coolant rises and flows faster.
